WHO WE ARE
We are a true family business, led by Sara and Irving, their son Joshua and their daughter Jessica Faust.
We have by far the most extensive selection of quality pianos in the greater NY area. We offer over 750 of the world’s best-known instruments in our four elegant New York and Connecticut piano stores and are proud to be the area’s exclusive and flagship dealer for new Yamaha, Bechstein, Bosendorfer, Fazioli and W. Hoffmann pianos.
We are also America’s largest independent retailer of fully rebuilt “golden era” Steinway pianos, which we produce in our 12,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art Steinway piano rebuilding factory, adjacent to our White Plains piano store.
Building Faust Harrison Pianos
The National Association of Music Merchants interviewed Sara Faust about her performance career and building Faust Harrison Pianos.
Simply put: GREAT PIANOS! Music is an essential part of our lives; beautiful music is a profound part of our culture; and beautiful music requires the best possible pianos. So we strive to produce great pianos, we encourage others to make great pianos, and we provide great pianos and the best possible piano values to as many people and institutions as we can.
We are not just a “piano store”. We regularly assist our manufacturers to design and produce the best new pianos possible. We work closely with our highly-skilled craftsmen and technicians to assure that they restore and refine our used pianos to the highest standards possible. We strive to provide the best possible pianos.
GOING BACK TO 1983…
Our roots go back to 1983 when Sara Faust began to build a piano business based upon her background as a concert pianist and occasional Steinway piano restorer. The company that she founded ultimately became the nation’s leading rebuilder and re-seller of concert-quality Steinway pianos. Then as now, she would sell her pianos to discerning customers seeking top tier pianos for affordable prices. As a professional concert pianist, Sara wanted superior pianos for her career, but was dissatisfied with the less-than-ideal standards of most rebuilders and felt that new Steinway pianos lacked the magic of the older “Golden Era” ones. So she hired the best craftsmen she could find to rebuild her vintage Steinways and guided them to restore the pianos to their full former glory.
Sara was thrilled to be able to practice and perform on the great Steinway pianos that she was resurrecting. When word spread in the performing community that Sara was producing ‘great’ vintage Steinways, her hobby of rebuilding pianos for her own use turned first into a small side business, and then into a full scale enterprise. Along the way, she also began representing piano manufacturers that shared her passion to build great pianos, including Bechstein, Bosendorfer, Yamaha and Fazioli. Faust Harrison Pianos adheres to the mission it was founded on, simply, to provide great pianos.
